Starý a Nový zámek, Renaissance castle complex in Studénka, Czech Republic.
Starý a Nový zámek is a castle complex comprising two connected buildings in different architectural styles. The structures are linked by surrounding walls and set within an English-style park centered around a main gatehouse.
The Old Castle section was built in 1567 by the Herbort family and reflects Renaissance design principles of that era. The New Castle was added between 1749 and 1750 in Baroque style, expanding the complex with additional spaces and functions.
The complex hosts a Wagon Museum showcasing regional industrial craftsmanship and heritage. Visitors can also experience art exhibitions and traditional events that keep local traditions alive in the castle spaces.
The grounds are easy to navigate on foot, with pathways connecting both buildings through the park. Warmer months offer the best experience, when the gardens are fuller and cultural events happen regularly throughout the season.
An ornate marble staircase features cast-iron railings from the Blansko ironworks, showcasing 19th-century metalworking skill. This crafted detail is easily overlooked but reveals the region's industrial heritage and manufacturing pride.
