The Educational Trail Kotvice runs through different landscapes with information boards along the way describing local animals, plants, and how ecosystems work. The path has clear markings and directional signs throughout to help visitors find their way.

The first Educational Trail Kotvice was established in 1983. In 2015 it was completely renovated and given the new name "Kotvice – putování krajinou proměn" (Kotvice – a journey through a changing landscape). The trail lies in the Kotvice nature reserve on the right bank of the Odra River in Nová Horka, part of the town of Studénka.

The trail's mascot is the Eurasian otter, drawn by illustrator Ivana Kolářová into a comic strip on each of the nine information boards. The boards address the relationship between people and nature, local history, the landscape, and the flora and fauna of the Odra floodplain.

The path is well marked and easy to walk whether you are experienced or visiting for the first time. Access points and nearby transportation connections make it simple to reach without needing special planning.

The path crosses through several different habitats where you can see different bird and animal species depending on the season. This variety means each visit offers something different depending on when you go.
