Nové Zámky, Château in Dolní Olešnice, Czech Republic.
Nové Zámky is a two-winged Neo-Baroque castle situated on Zámecký vrch hill at 373 meters elevation. The building occupies a position between the Elbe River and Kalenský stream valleys in a forested landscape.
A fortification was established on the strategic hilltop in 1139, later transformed into a Renaissance castle. The transformation took place between 1590 and 1608 and created the foundation for the structure seen today.
The castle holds significance as a record of architectural evolution across centuries within the region. Its designation reflects how the building embodies the layers of different eras that shaped it over time.
The castle is currently closed to the public and cannot be visited inside. It sits in a forested area several kilometers southeast of Hostinné and requires planned access.
The castle served as an eye clinic until 2010 before being abandoned following its purchase by a development company. This unexpected modern use of a historic structure reflects how such buildings adapted across generations.
