Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Catholic church in Chotěvice, Czech Republic

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is a Neo-Romanesque three-nave rectangular building in Chotěvice, built in 1861–1863. It has a polygonal presbytery, barrel-vaulted interior, and a tower with a pyramidal roof. A walled cemetery with a mortuary and a gate on stone pillars surrounds it.

A church stood in Chotěvice before 1362, when it was already recorded as a parish church. It was destroyed during the Hussite wars and soon rebuilt, but a storm on the night of 12–13 July 1832 struck it with lightning and burned the wooden structure down. A new church followed in 1835, and the present one was built in 1861–1863 on the initiative of Johan Weber, a clergyman from Hostinné, funded by collections among local inhabitants.

Since 2022 the church has belonged to Karin and Richard Krajčí through their AnděLOVÉ foundation, which is restoring it and added pop-art pieces to the interior. Well-known figures including Olga Lounová, Leoš Mareš, Jaromír Jágr and Lucie Bílá contributed to the repair of the original Stations of the Cross paintings. In summer 2023 it opened to visitors at weekends.

The church is an active place of prayer and worship with regular services, especially on Sundays. Visitors should respect visiting hours and dress appropriately for this religious space.

In 2022 the church was acquired from the Catholic Church by Karin and Richard Krajč, who restored it through their AnděLOVÉ foundation. They added pop-art pieces to the interior, and Olga Lounová, Leoš Mareš, Jaromír Jágr and Lucie Bílá helped fund the repair of the original Stations of the Cross paintings.
