Lysice Castle, Baroque château in Lysice, Czech Republic
Lysice Castle is a Baroque-style château in the Czech Republic that combines Renaissance and Baroque features. The building spreads across multiple floors with decorated rooms, personal chambers, and furnishings from different periods.
The fortress started as a stronghold in 1476 under the rule of the Lords of Kunstdt. During the 16th century, Divis Cernicky transformed it into a Renaissance water fortress.
The library room holds books and works that were collected by Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, showing how literature was valued within the castle. The Oriental room displays Japanese and Chinese objects gathered during maritime journeys, reflecting connections to distant cultures.
The visit is organized into two routes that allow you to explore different areas of the castle. The first route shows reception rooms and the chapel, while the second presents the count's private rooms and guest chambers.
The garden contains a colonnade with a pergola, orangery, and greenhouses that supplied plants to notable places in the 19th century. These horticultural facilities were once sources of botanical rarities sent to famous establishments.
