Karlova Studánka

Karlova Studánka is a spa resort nestled in the Jeseníky Mountains at roughly 775 meters elevation, surrounded by forests and mountain streams. The village features wooden buildings from the 1800s that form a protected architectural group, creating a coherent hillside settlement.

The settlement began in 1554 as a mining town called Hubertov focused on iron extraction from the surrounding hills. Around 1803 it transformed into a spa resort and took the name of Archduke Charles, establishing itself as a health destination.

The Empire-style wooden spa buildings, constructed between 1803 and 1893, form a protected architectural ensemble within the village monument zone.

The mineral springs and drinking pavilions are easily accessible on foot throughout the village. Plan time to explore the different spa areas and enjoy the therapeutic waters at a comfortable pace.

A 19th-century artificial waterfall about 20 meters tall stands near the main drinking pavilion, a rare engineering creation from that era. This structure shows how spa resorts once staged natural elements to enhance their appeal to visitors.
