Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Neo-Romanesque church in Karlín, Czech Republic
The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius features a basilica design with two towers, measuring 75 meters in length and 31 meters in width.
Emperor Franz Joseph I attended the foundation stone ceremony in 1854, and Archbishop Friedrich von Schwarzenberg consecrated the church in October 1863.
Czech and Austrian artists contributed to the interior decorations, including Josef Manes who designed the bronze entrance gates with saints' life scenes.
The church maintains regular Catholic services and participates in the Signal Festival, where visual projections illuminate its Neo-Romanesque architecture.
The 2002 flood damaged the church with water reaching 1.5 meters high, leading to extensive restoration work from 2003 to 2006.
