Karlínské náměstí, Central square in Karlín, Czech Republic
Karlínské náměstí is the main square in the Karlin district of Prague, with the Church of St. Cyril and Methodius positioned at its center. Historic buildings line the edges, green areas offer space to sit, and several streets branch out from the square in different directions.
The square was established in the 19th century as the center of the newly developed Karlin district. Following damage during World War II, it was rebuilt and continued to serve as an important public space.
The square serves as a gathering place where locals pass through daily, meeting friends on benches or stopping at nearby cafes. The surrounding shops and restaurants reflect how the neighborhood goes about its regular rhythm throughout the day.
Tram lines 3 and 8 stop directly at the square, making it easy to reach by public transport. The square is flat and walkable, convenient for exploring the surrounding neighborhood on foot.
The northern edge of the square has the Dva Kohouti brewery, where you can buy local beer and drink it in the nearby park. This small brewery is often overlooked by visitors passing through, yet it draws regular customers from the area.
