Corso Karlín, Administrative building in Karlín, Prague, Czech Republic
Corso Karlín is a modern office building in Karlín that combines historic factory elements with contemporary architecture on a former industrial site. The structure features red stucco arcades, a glass roof that brings natural light into interior spaces, and a central atrium that connects different office sections throughout the building.
The site began as an industrial factory founded in 1890 that manufactured metal-sheet boilers. The location was completely transformed in the 1990s and reopened as an office building in 2000.
The building preserves visible traces of its industrial past within modern office spaces, allowing visitors to see how the old factory structure has been incorporated into the contemporary design. This blend of heritage and renewal shapes how people experience and use the space today.
The building is easily accessible and provides underground parking for vehicle visitors. Raised floor systems allow flexible space configuration, and the central atrium helps visitors navigate between different areas.
The building received the national Stavba roku award in 2001 for demonstrating how old industrial structures can be successfully converted into high-quality modern office spaces. This recognition made the project a notable example of innovative renovation in Prague.
