Anděl is a modern commercial district in Smichov featuring office buildings, retail spaces, and restaurants clustered around a major transportation hub. The Nový Smíchov shopping center offers multiple cinemas, shops, and dining options directly connected to the Anděl metro station on Line B.

The name comes from the house U zlatého anděla, whose gable carried a fresco of a golden angel painted in 1870; a brewery and pub of the same name operated there from 1878 to 1901. The 19th-century building was demolished on 16 February 1980, and the fresco was saved and is now shown near the Anděl metro station entrance.

The name Anděl comes from the 19th-century pub U zlatého anděla, whose gable carried a fresco of an angel from 1870. The painting survived the building's demolition in 1980 and is now displayed near the metro station entrance. The pub also housed a brewery and brewery tavern from 1878 to 1901.

The interchange is a pedestrian zone, so walking between the metro station, Nový Smíchov and the Anděl City complex is straightforward. Trams in both north–south and east–west directions cross here, including lines 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 20. The bus terminal for Košíře, Motol and Strahov lies a few hundred metres away at Na Knížecí.

The Golden Angel building was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, blending modern architecture with references to European cinema. This combination of design and artistic culture sets the place apart in Prague.
