Hraniční meandry Odry

This natural monument stretches about 126 hectares along the Odra River, featuring wetlands and forests between roughly 193 and 198 meters above sea level. Its course is shaped by several meanders that wind the waterway through the landscape.

The Moravian-Silesian regional authorities gave this area protected status in November 2006 following joint efforts between Czech and Polish conservation groups. The designation recognized the importance of this cross-border natural landscape.

The educational path with information boards shows visitors how river ecosystems work and connects walking routes from both the Czech and Polish sides of the border. The stations reveal how water shapes this borderland.

A trail network of roughly 9 kilometers lets visitors explore the area, though some sections require caution during wet weather. Proper hiking shoes and attention to trail conditions are wise choices, especially after rainfall.

The unregulated river flow causes natural shifts in the channel that gradually move the international border between Czech Republic and Poland. This process makes the place a living example of nature reshaping boundaries over time.
