The hall was built between 1971 and 1985 to a design by architect Oskar Chmiel on the bank of the Ostravice in Frýdek. It served for 30 years, hosting 14 matches of the 1994 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and the first Czech Extraliga All-Star Game on 21 January 1996. It was demolished in 2013 and replaced by the Frýda shopping centre.
The hall hosted the first Czech Extraliga All-Star Game on 21 January 1996, and in 2003 the handball players of SKP Frýdek-Místek won their first title there. Its last cultural event before demolition was an Iggy Pop concert on 22 June 2013.
The hall stood in Frýdek on the bank of the Ostravice, with road I/48 and the Ostrava–Valašské Meziříčí railway line passing nearby. It was demolished in 2013; the Frýda shopping centre now occupies the site, and the replacement Polárka hall was built a short distance to the northeast.
The hall maintains temperature-controlled conditions year-round to ensure optimal ice quality. This technical setup keeps the ice stable even when it is warm outside.
