Starý Rybník Castle stands on a small rocky ridge between two ponds and displays Gothic architectural elements from the medieval period. The structure preserves features of defensive fortifications that were typical for the era.
History
The castle was built in the late 14th century and initially belonged to the Frankengrüner family. It later passed to different noble families who used it as a fortification.

The ruins hold official protection as a cultural monument, reflecting how medieval builders in western Bohemia constructed their fortifications. Visitors can still see the craftsmanship in the remaining stone walls and structural foundations.

The site lies roughly 9 kilometers from Františkovy Lázně in the Karlovy Vary region and sits in a remote location. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and move carefully, as the ruins are in poor condition.
