Babí lom, Concrete observation tower in Lelekovice, Czech Republic
Babí lom is a concrete observation tower on a rocky ridge between Kuřim and Lelekovice that offers views over the South Moravian landscape. The structure rises about 17 meters and sits on a mountainside at roughly 562 meters elevation.
Babí Lom Hill served as a natural landmark in the region for centuries. The concrete tower was built later to make the natural vantage point more accessible to visitors.
Local people visit this spot throughout the year to observe how the South Moravian landscape changes with the seasons from different heights. The views reveal fields, forests, and distant villages as they shift with weather and daylight.
The area is best explored on foot, with a forest path of about 2 kilometers leading from Lelekovice to the tower. In wetter seasons the paths can be slippery, so shoes with good grip are recommended.
Iron stairs connect several observation platforms at different heights, allowing visitors to move through the layers of the surrounding forest from bottom to top. Each level reveals fresh views of the landscape and the terrain below.
