Údolí Říčky, Nature reserve in South Moravian Region, Czech Republic
Údolí Říčky is a protected area in the South Moravian Region covering 141 hectares along both sides of the Ricka stream. Natural forest habitats and limestone rock formations shape the character of this valley.
The reserve was declared in 1990, though the Slovak Wikipedia gives 1995; the Czech article and the 141.27 ha area support 1990. Pekárna Cave, a mammoth-hunter site, lies within the reserve but is protected separately as a national nature monument.
The educational trail shares knowledge about karst geology, local plants and animals through informative panels positioned throughout the reserve. Visitors gain insight into the ecological character of this landscape through these teaching points.
The reserve is accessible by public transport and features a network of marked hiking paths. These routes work well for walking and cycling, allowing flexible exploration of the area.
The stream Říčka disappears into several sinkholes within the reserve and resurfaces near Kaprálův mlýn. Under Hádek hill lies an estavela, a karst spring that alternately swallows and releases water as the underground level rises and falls.
