Amatérská Cave, Cave system in Blansko District, Czech Republic.
Amatérská Cave is a massive cave system in the Blansko District with over 40 kilometers of underground passages and chambers beneath the surface. The system has several entrances and contains underground streams that flow through the rock chambers.
The cave system was named after two speleologists who died during a flooding event in the 1970s. This tragic event led to the site being dedicated as a memorial to these brave explorers.
The walls bear geometric drawings from the Neolithic period, showing that people explored this underground world thousands of years ago. These ancient marks are silent witnesses to human presence deep below the surface.
Visitors must join guided tours to explore the cave, as the system is very large and complex to navigate alone. The tours start at one of the marked entrances and require normal physical fitness to move safely through the passages.
Two underground streams meet deep within the cave system and join together to form a new river that continues flowing beneath the earth. This merging of water in darkness is a rare geological spectacle that few cave systems worldwide can show.
