Plešivec, Mountain summit in Krušné Hory, Czech Republic
Plešivec is a mountain summit in the Krušné Hory range, also known as the Ore Mountains, in northern Bohemia, Czech Republic. The mountain has ski slopes, chairlifts, accommodation, and an adventure park that stays open across all seasons.
The Ore Mountains were a major mining region for centuries, and traces of that past are still visible in the landscape around Plešivec. From the early 2000s onward, the summit was developed into a winter sports and recreational destination.
The name Plešivec comes from an old Slavic word meaning "bald head," referring to the open, treeless top of the summit. That treeless crown is still visible today, giving the upper slopes a wide, open feel compared to the forested sides below.
In summer, hiking trails and mountain biking routes are available, while in winter the ski slopes are also lit for evening use. Restaurants and rest areas at the top make it easy to spend a full day on the mountain without needing to carry much.
Plešivec is one of the few summits in the Ore Mountains that offers both night skiing and dedicated mountain biking trails, which is not common in this part of the country. Some of those biking routes follow the same lines as the ski slopes, so the terrain looks quite different depending on the season.
