Gallery of Western Bohemia, Research institution and museum in Plzeň, Czech Republic
The Gallery of Western Bohemia consists of two exhibition halls: the medieval Meat Market building and The 13 Exhibition Hall near Republic Square.
Following World War II, the institution began collecting artworks, developing a collection that now includes over ten thousand pieces from the 14th century onward.
The institution preserves notable works by Karel Purkyně, Mikoláš Aleš, and Julius Mařák, representing different periods of Czech art movements.
The gallery opens Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, with separate admission fees for each exhibition hall and combined tickets available.
In 2016, the institution established The Art Prize of the City of Pilsen to recognize outstanding achievements in contemporary art creation.
