The old water tower in Plzeň is a stone structure standing near the city center, featuring a Gothic portal from 1500. The facade displays French Imperial style elements added during the 19th century.
The tower was built in 1532 as part of the city fortifications and Prague Gate. An additional floor was added in 1822 during extensive architectural changes.
A commemorative plaque honors Dr. Josef Skoda, a renowned physician born in the neighboring building in 1805. His name remains connected to the city's medical heritage.
The building is located at Prazska Street number 19 in the inner city and is easy to spot near the center. You can view it from the street as it stands integrated within the current urban layout.
The Gothic portal originally came from a demolished house on Presovska Street and was installed here only in 1912. This reuse shows how architectural elements were preserved during the city's changes.
