Městské divadlo v Mostě, Municipal theatre in Most, Czech Republic
Městské divadlo v Mostě is a theatre featuring a distinctive hexagonal structure with a modern stage system and rotating platform that supports diverse theatrical productions. The space is designed to accommodate different staging configurations and performance styles.
The original theatre built in 1911 was demolished because of coal mining operations in the area, leading to construction of the current building. The new structure was designed by architect Ivo Klimeš and completed in 1985.
The building houses two separate performance spaces designed for different audiences: the main stage presents regular theatre productions while the Divadlo rozmanitosti focuses on puppet shows for children. This split arrangement reflects how the theatre serves diverse community groups.
The theatre is located near Hotel Cascade and offers regular performances throughout the year of both classical and contemporary works. Visitors can attend individual shows or purchase season passes.
The theatre's stairways and internal structures are adaptable and adjust to different stage arrangements. This flexibility allows the venue to quickly switch between various theatrical concepts and configurations.
