Cedr Na Balkáně, Atlas cedar in Vysočany, Prague, Czech Republic

Cedr Na Balkáně is a cedar tree standing roughly 14 meters tall with a trunk about 2.6 meters around, displaying silvery-green needles that cover its branches. The tree grows within a tennis club area on Na Balkáně street in the Vysočany neighborhood.

The tree arrived as a young sapling from the Netherlands, transported through efforts of the Dendrological Society founded in Vienna during 1908. This organization worked to introduce rare tree species to the region in the early 1900s.

The tree grows within a residential neighborhood that took its name from a housing development begun in 1925, which shaped the character of the surrounding area.

The tree is reachable on foot from the Chmelnice public transport stop, which takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes to walk. Since the site is within an active tennis club, visitors should be respectful of the players and ongoing activities.

This is the only protected cedar tree in all of Prague, and it held the distinction of being the sole protected tree in Prague 3 district for many years. This rare status makes it a notable part of the city's green heritage.
