Divadlo pod Palmovkou, Drama theater in Libeň district, Prague, Czech Republic.
Divadlo pod Palmovkou is a theater in the Libeň district of Prague featuring two separate performance spaces. The main stage holds around 280 spectators while the smaller studio accommodates approximately 80 people.
Founded in 1948 by theater enthusiasts, the venue was originally called the S.K. Neumann Theatre. Following the fall of communism in 1992, it adopted its current name.
The theater brings together audiences and performers from across Central Europe through its programming and festivals. These gatherings create a space where different communities connect through shared artistic experiences.
The theater is located on Zenklova Street in Prague 8 and is accessible by public transport. Both spaces allow for different types of productions, from large-scale dramas to more intimate performances.
The venue maintains separate artistic directions for each space: the main stage focuses on major productions while the studio pursues experimental work aimed at younger audiences. This approach allows both spaces to serve different viewer preferences simultaneously.
