Dom Bohumila Hrabala w Pradze

The building at Na Hrázi 24 in Prague's Libeň district was a three-story residential structure with apartments arranged around an inner courtyard accessible through a former blacksmith workshop. The layout reflected a typical Prague residential design of its era, with the workshop serving as the main entry point to the living spaces above.

Writer Bohumil Hrabal moved into this residence with his wife Eliška Plevová during the 1950s and lived there while creating much of his literary work until 1973. The building was demolished in 1988 to make space for the construction of Prague's metro line B.

The building served as a gathering place for artists and intellectuals, with Hrabal often hosting informal wedding ceremonies and literary discussions in his apartment.

The original location is no longer accessible as the building was demolished decades ago, with a concrete retaining wall and mural now marking the spot. Visitors looking to connect with Hrabal's history can still find traces of his presence throughout the city's literary landmarks.

The street name Na Hrázi Věčnosti, meaning 'On the Embankment of Eternity,' was personally promoted by Hrabal during his residence there.
