Jiráskova chata

Jiráskova chata is an observation tower at 624 meters elevation featuring a hexagonal structure with a wooden viewing platform overlooking the surrounding countryside. The site includes a restaurant serving Czech cuisine with both indoor and outdoor seating for groups and events.

Built in 1895 as the first tourist shelter in Bohemia, the site marked an early response to growing visitor interest in the region. Architect Dušan Jurkovič redesigned it in 1912 to handle larger crowds, setting the stage for further additions that followed decades later.

The name honors writer Alois Jirásek and reflects the place's role in Czech cultural life. Today it remains a protected monument that shows how such mountain shelters became gathering spots for people seeking the outdoors.

The site is best reached on foot and accommodates visitors planning to stay for a few hours or longer hiking trips. The restaurant accepts groups, though it helps to arrange reservations ahead of time, especially on weekends or for larger gatherings.

The hexagonal tower from 1923 was expanded in the 1930s with functionalist additions, showing how architectural style shifted over the decades. This blend of different building periods remains visible to visitors exploring the structure.
