Braniborská jeskyně is a sandstone cave near Doksy that extends about 44 meters into the rock formation. Light filters naturally through openings in the stone, illuminating several chambers inside.
The cave served as shelter for local people during times of conflict in the region. Carved inscriptions from 1741 remain visible on the walls today.
The cave has become a meeting point for Czech outdoor enthusiasts who gather there to experience nature and maintain traditions of wilderness exploration.
A green-marked hiking trail from Staré Splavy leads to the cave in approximately one hour on foot. The path goes through rock formations, so sturdy shoes and careful footing are recommended.
The interior stays cool year-round, even during hot summer months, because of how the passages connect and allow air to move through the rock. This natural temperature regulation is one of the cave's most noticeable features.
