From the mid-18th century until 1928, the area operated as a limestone quarry supplying the famous lime for Prague's Old Town. Intense extraction through multiple kilns shaped the landscape over generations.
The forest on Dobeška hill was established in 1917 as a park and draws visitors with its natural setting. A wooden viewing platform offers a place to stop and take in the surroundings.
The site is well accessible by public transportation, especially near the Přístaviště stop. Visitors should be aware that most local information is available in Czech.
The site contains rock layers from the Silurian and early Devonian periods that hold special scientific importance. Experts use the location to study the boundaries between different geological time periods.
