Červený Hrádek Castle

Červený Hrádek Castle is a Baroque structure arranged in four symmetrical wings with corner towers surrounding a central courtyard. The facade displays characteristic Baroque elements including ornamental details and carefully proportioned windows throughout the building.

The castle began as the Podhradec fortress in 1285 and underwent major transformation during the 17th century. Antonio della Porta, a leading architect, directed the reconstruction that converted the medieval structure into its present Baroque form.

The chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist reflects how the castle's inhabitants expressed their faith through decoration and design. Visitors can see how religious devotion shaped the spaces where the family gathered for prayer and reflection.

The castle welcomes visitors during the warm months with regular guided tours available throughout the day. Access includes viewing rooms in the main building and the technical museum located in the riding hall.

The castle holds a collection of World War II remnants including aircraft fragments from aerial battles that took place over the region. This unexpected display offers insight into how the surrounding landscape was shaped by wartime events.
