Encovany Castle is a Renaissance structure with four wings arranged around a square courtyard. The west and south facades display pilaster arcades, while the interior features ribbed and barrel vaults throughout its spaces.
The castle was built in 1602 on the site of a former fortress originally commissioned by Rudolf Zejdlic of Šenfeld. It later passed into the hands of the Lobkowicz family, becoming a significant noble residence.
The interior spaces display rib vaulting and barrel vaults, with fragments of Renaissance paintings preserved in the tower and southwest corner.
Visiting the castle requires prior arrangement since it is privately owned and currently undergoing restoration work. It is advisable to check access conditions in advance and come prepared for the state of the building.
The building reveals a layering of two construction periods, with Gothic structures preserved in the ground floors beneath the Renaissance additions. This overlap is visible in the structural drawings and architectural details.
