The prehistoric hillfort on Velký Blaník mountain contained two concentric stone banks without ditches, indicating early settlement patterns from 6th-5th centuries BC.
The mountain holds significance in Czech mythology as the resting place of knights led by St Wenceslaus, who will emerge to protect Bohemia.
The tower operates daily except Mondays from May through September, with admission fees of 30 CZK for adults and 20 CZK for children.
The lookout tower includes a dedicated space called altar mensa where couples can arrange wedding ceremonies since April 1999.
