MO-S 5 Na trati casemate

The MO-S 5 Na trati is a pair of single-sided bunkers joined by a 22-meter underground passage running beneath a railway line. The fortification features reinforced concrete walls and gun positions designed to protect and control a border crossing point.

Construction began in July 1936 as part of Czechoslovak border defense preparations. The site later fell under Polish and then German control during World War II.

This site demonstrates how Czechoslovakia viewed border security in the 1930s through concrete fortifications. Visitors experience how soldiers lived and worked in these cramped spaces, revealing the anxieties of that era.

The bunker requires visitors to navigate narrow corridors and low ceilings, so comfortable clothing and a certain level of mobility are helpful. Visiting during spring or fall offers a better experience than summer when more tourists arrive.

The site was built with armored rotating turrets equipped with machine guns, reflecting engineering techniques of the 1930s. These heavy gun positions could swivel to cover different angles of approach to the border crossing.
