Bolfánek, Observation tower in Chudenice, Czech Republic.
Bolfánek is an observation tower standing 45 meters tall at the highest point of Chudenice. It offers wide views across the surrounding landscape of the Plzeň Region from its top.
The structure was originally built between 1722 and 1725 as a bell tower for a church. After the church was demolished, it was converted into an observation tower in 1845.
The tower is named after Saint Wolfgang, a bishop who traveled through this region on his journey from Prague. Visitors can trace this religious heritage in the building's design and its prominent position in the town.
The tower is open to visitors from April through November, with extended hours during summer months. Access is available Tuesday through Sunday when visiting is most convenient.
This building is the sole surviving element of the former Saint Wolfgang Church that once stood here. It continues to serve as a landmark for both locals and travelers navigating the region.
