Buranteatr, Theatre venue in Brno, Czech Republic

Buranteatr is a theatre company based in Brno that has performed since 2010 in the Sokol Stadium building on Kounicova Street, in the former G-studio. Its two halls can be arranged for an audience of 70 in the small hall and 150 in the large hall, allowing both chamber plays and productions for a large stage.

The ensemble was founded in 2003 as Tramtárie by students of Brno's Janáček Academy and played in Olomouc's former operetta hall. It moved to Brno in 2005 under the name Buranteatr, performed in provisional spaces, and in 2008 opened a 60-seat hall in a former storeroom on Joštova Street. Since 2010 it has occupied the former G-studio at the Sokol Stadium on Kounicova Street.

The name Buranteatr comes from a strong steppe wind that blows regardless of its surroundings, not from "buran" or a bread roll; the troupe calls itself "Burani" and describes its work as crude, direct and unpolished. Since 2021 the ensemble has operated as the multi-disciplinary centre Co.labs, hosting residencies, workshops and community projects.

The name Buranteatr does not come from buran or křupan; it refers to a strong steppe wind blowing regardless of its surroundings. The company adopted the nickname "Burani" and calls itself "buranské" — raw, direct, unpolished theatre.
