Vinařická, Natural monument in Vinařice, Czech Republic
Vinařická is a protected natural area near Vinařice featuring varied geological structures spread across forested sections and rocky outcrops. The site displays different rock formations and natural surface features that shape the terrain.
The area gained official protection status in 1985 and has been conserved since then. This designation was part of the Czech Republic's broader conservation efforts to safeguard important geological and ecological sites.
The name Vinařická hora links the hill to the village of Vinařice below it, not to winemaking. A marked educational trail laid out in the protected western part explains the volcano's layers and its heat-loving plants to walkers.
Marked walking routes guide visitors through the area and allow exploration of both forested sections and exposed rock formations. Sturdy footwear is advisable since the ground can be uneven and slippery when wet.
When the galleries of the nearby Mayrau coal mine reached deep beneath the hill, miners found coal that had been coked naturally where hot magma once met the coal seam, along with the surface rocks that had fallen into the fissure.
