Watermill in Slup

The Watermill in Slup is a milling building powered by water wheels that drive grinding mechanisms inside. The structure contains several distinct processing areas showing different methods for handling and transforming grain.

The building was constructed in the 16th century and later redesigned with Renaissance features. It was once the largest milling operation of its kind in Moravia.

The mill demonstrates work techniques that were passed down through generations and shaped the daily lives of millers in the region. Visitors can observe how people once used water power and mechanical systems to process grain and what skills were required for this craft.

The building welcomes visitors from spring through autumn on weekdays and weekends, as well as public holidays. Plan to spend one to two hours exploring the different rooms and machinery throughout the structure.

The structure preserves several independent production systems, some based on older local methods and others on later American techniques. This mix reveals how milling technologies evolved over time and existed side by side.
