Vodopád Černého potoka

Vodopád Černého potoka is a mountain waterfall where water flows through two separate channels created by a large boulder wedged between rocky walls in the Jizerské hory mountains. The dual cascade forms where the trapped rock forces the stream to divide and drop along both sides of the obstacle.

The falls formed naturally when a massive boulder became trapped between cliff faces, creating the distinctive split flow pattern visible in the Černý potok stream today. This geological event shaped the landscape and has remained a stable feature of the mountain region.

The woodland around the falls contains many wooden crosses and memorial stones placed in memory of woodcutters and hunters from past centuries. These markers reflect the deep connection between local people and the mountain landscape.

A marked trail leads to the waterfall from Bílý Potok village through mountainous woodland terrain with uneven paths. Good walking shoes are needed, and the area around the falls can be wet and slippery depending on recent rainfall.

The waterfall's intensity changes dramatically with the seasons and rainfall, sometimes appearing as a powerful cascade and other times as just a gentle trickle. This variation means no two visits are quite the same, and the best displays occur during or just after heavy rain.
