Jelení skok, Nature reserve in Vranov, Czech Republic.
Jelení skok is a nature reserve on a steep slope along the right bank of the Svitava River, containing various forest types and rocky areas. The ground beneath consists of granite bedrock where different plant formations grow.
This area became a protected reserve in 1976 and is among the older nature reserves in the Czech Republic. The decision was made to preserve this varied forest landscape for future generations.
The forests here are made up of oak, beech, and other trees that grow on steep slopes and shape the landscape. Visitors can experience this natural variety directly by walking through the woods and observing the different tree types and plant formations.
The area is reached via marked trails that wind through the reserve and are straightforward to follow. Lodging options can be found in the nearby village of Vranov.
The place is known for rare plants such as orchids and wild populations of fire salamanders that live in their natural setting. These amphibians are especially notable because they are adapted to the moist forest habitats found here.
