Komorov Chateau, Cultural monument in Chvalkovice, Czech Republic.
Komorov Chateau is a two-story mansion built in the Empire style, positioned southwest of Chvalkovice with its central entrance facing the village and surrounding fields. The building displays the characteristic symmetry and classical proportions typical of early 19th-century aristocratic residences.
The chateau was constructed between 1811 and 1812 by Jan Pagáč of Paburg following a major fire that destroyed the previous settlement in the same year. This rebuilding effort marked a turning point for the locality after the disaster.
The building represents a notable example of Empire architecture in the Czech Republic and maintains its status as a registered cultural monument.
The chateau is currently closed to visitors and has remained inaccessible since 2019, with visible deterioration affecting its exterior condition. You can view the building from public spaces, but interior access is not permitted.
The chateau occupies the site of the medieval village of Komorov, which vanished centuries ago long before this mansion was built. A fortification at this location was documented as early as 1541, revealing the long-standing occupation of the land.
