Hradisko svatého Klimenta, Archaeological site and national cultural monument in Moravany, Czech Republic.
This medieval fortified settlement sits atop a 461-meter hill in the Chřiby Mountains, surrounded by forests and offering commanding views of the surrounding Moravian countryside.
The site served as a Great Moravian stronghold from the 9th century and housed a church dedicated to Saint Clement, where the saint's relics were allegedly kept before being transported to Rome by Saints Cyril and Methodius.
The location remains an active pilgrimage destination where annual religious celebrations take place during Pentecost, continuing centuries-old traditions that connect local communities with their spiritual heritage.
Visitors can access the site via roads from Osvětimany and Koryčany villages, approximately five kilometers southeast of Koryčany, with parking available and walking paths leading to the ruins.
Archaeological excavations revealed continuous habitation from the 3rd century AD through the 15th century, making it one of the longest continuously occupied sites in the Czech Republic.
