Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, Premonstratensian monastery church in Želiv, Czech Republic
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands between the Želivka and Trnava rivers as part of an extensive monastic complex.
Built in the first half of the 12th century, the church underwent major renovations in 1712 under architect G. Santini who implemented Baroque Gothic elements.
The church features an altar painting of the Virgin Mary from 1861 and maintains regular Roman Catholic services within the Premonstratensian monastery.
The church remains accessible through guided tours of the monastery complex, located at coordinates 49.5293° latitude and 15.2152° longitude.
After suffering destruction by Hussites in 1420 and 1424, the church was reconstructed and later connected to Trčka's Castle through the monastery precinct.
