Kostel Matky Boží Na Náměti

Kostel Matky Boží Na Náměti is a Gothic church with a prominent rectangular tower that rises three stories and features a five-sided presbytery on its western facade. The building defines the townscape with its distinctive silhouette and intricate Gothic architectural details.

The church was destroyed by lightning in 1470 and later reconstructed following its original design plan. The rebuilding took place under the direction of Matthias Rejsek, a prominent master stonemason of the period.

The church serves as a spiritual center for believers and displays late Gothic artworks created by local masters within its walls. The sanctuary reflects the religious devotion that was cultivated in the medieval town and remains visible to visitors today.

The southern staircase within the tower houses two spiral staircases that rotate in opposite directions, allowing visitors to ascend and descend simultaneously. This ingenious feature of Gothic architecture demonstrates the skill and practical thinking of medieval stonemasons.
