Palace of justice, Brno, Law courts complex in Štýřice, Czech Republic.
The Palace of Justice in Štýřice is an institutional complex with two connected structures: a modern courthouse with a glass facade and a prosecution office clad in granite, both overlooking the Svratka River. Inside, there are six floors above ground and two below, fitted with security systems designed to separate different users.
Planning for this judicial facility began in the summer of 2006 and construction was completed three years later. The new building was designed to meet growing demands on the regional court system.
The complex displays a baroque statue of Archangel Michael from the 1700s, borrowed from a nearby church and placed inside. This religious symbol connects the idea of justice with older traditions.
The complex has separate entry points and circulation routes for different types of users, which visitors should keep in mind when navigating. Access is available during regular business hours, and it is helpful to follow signage carefully.
The complex was pioneering in its design of completely separate routes for defendants, judges, and the public to move through the building. This separation was a deliberate choice to avoid unnecessary encounters and improve safety throughout the facility.
