The first town hall was bought from a noble family in the 1500s, then burned down in 1538 and was rebuilt in the mid-16th century. A later fire in the late 1700s led to restoration and a new tower, and in the early 1900s the upper part of the building was raised and given a wooden balcony.
Local festivals and markets fill the square in front of the building, making it a regular meeting point for people from the town. Inside, the library and information desk draw residents and visitors who come for practical help as much as for a look at the old spaces.
