Bílé Karpaty, Radio and television transmitter on Veľká Javorina, Slovakia

Veľká Javorina is a radio and television transmitter on the 969 m summit of the same name in the Biele Karpaty, in the cadastre of Lubina near Stará Turá in Slovakia. The current guyed mast, over 80 m tall, replaced a cylindrical relay tower demolished in autumn 2004.

Amateur enthusiasts from Stará Turá built the first transmitter here at the end of March 1958, a 15 m mast broadcasting the first television programme. A reinforced-concrete tower followed, on air from 1 January 1961; a new operations building began transmitting the second programme on 18 May 1979. FM broadcasting started in summer 1990, a new tower went into service in 1994, and the original cylindrical relay tower was demolished in autumn 2004.

The summit is a meeting point for hikers on the marked trails: yellow from Stará Turá, red from Myjava and from Hrabina on the Czech side, blue from Lubina via Cetuna. The transmitter's signal reaches Moravia, Austria and Hungary, so walkers arrive from both sides of the border.

The tower is accessible via a network of marked hiking trails connected to nearby parking areas. Most visitors should wear sturdy footwear and prepare for changing weather since the location sits in an exposed position.

The original cylindrical relay tower was demolished in autumn 2004; the current mast stands over 80 m tall and began broadcasting DVB-T in December 2009. The site is on Veľká Javorina (969 m) in the Biele Karpaty, in the cadastre of Lubina near Stará Turá, Slovakia.
