Church of Saint Leonard

The Saint Leonard Church features preserved southern walls from the original structure, standing on a small island within the Nové Mlýny reservoir.

Built in the early 13th century, the church underwent Gothic reconstruction in the 14th century and received a Baroque tower addition in the 18th century.

The church remains the sole preserved structure from the former village of Mušov, which disappeared beneath the waters of the reservoir in the 1980s.

Access to the church requires careful wading through water during low water levels, as the building sits isolated on a small artificial island.

The structure represents the only island church in the Czech Republic, surrounded by the waters of the central Nové Mlýny reservoir.
