Chairlift Bohosudov - Komáří vížka, Chairlift in Bohosudov, Czech Republic.
The Chairlift Bohosudov - Komáří vížka is a chairlift in the Ore Mountains of the Czech Republic, linking the village of Bohosudov with the summit of Komáří vížka. The line runs on a single cable with open two-seater chairs that move continuously, carrying passengers from the valley floor to the top without stopping along the way.
The chairlift was built in the early 1950s and has since been listed as a protected cultural monument in the Czech Republic. The Ore Mountains region had been defined by mining since medieval times, and this installation was part of that long tradition when it was constructed.
The chairlift travels through a landscape shaped by centuries of ore mining, and traces of that past are still visible along the route. At the top station, old structures stand alongside a tavern, giving the site a layered character that goes beyond a simple mountain ride.
The ride is entirely outdoors and offers no shelter, so dressing for the weather is important before you board. On windy or rainy days the journey can feel particularly exposed, and warmer layers are worth having even in summer.
A stone bell tower dating to 1568 stands at the top station and was originally used to signal shift changes for miners working in the area. Over time it was absorbed into a tavern building and can still be seen there today.
