Litvínov Castle is a baroque structure in Horní Litvínov, Czech Republic, built with symmetrical wings arranged around a central courtyard. The building rises through multiple stories and displays characteristic features of Czech baroque design.
Architect František Maxmilián Kaňka reshaped the building between 1732 and 1743, giving it its current baroque form. This transformation established it as a significant example of Czech baroque architecture.
The castle has housed exhibits since 1964 that display items and stories connected to regional noble families and their role in local life. Walking through the rooms, you can see how these families shaped the area around them.
The location is open daily except Mondays from April through October, with guided tours available in Czech, German, and English. It is helpful to check ahead whether tours are running at your preferred time.
The castle is surrounded by an English-style park from 1878 that spreads across several hectares and features native plant species. This green space provides a calm contrast to the baroque building.
