Loreto chapel in Brno

The Loreto Chapel is a baroque place of worship located on Minoritská street in central Brno. It sits next to the Church of Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist as part of the wider Minorite Monastery complex.

The chapel was built in the early 1700s during a period of extensive baroque transformation in Brno. It was constructed as part of the broader religious revival movement happening across the region at that time.

The chapel reflects the strong devotion to Mary that shaped religious life in this region. Visitors can observe how sacred sites from Jerusalem were recreated here, bringing distant pilgrimage destinations closer to local faithful.

The chapel is easily accessible from the street and sits in a central location within the old town. Note that access may be limited during religious services, so visiting outside those times offers better viewing opportunities.

Inside the chapel sits a replica of the Holy Stairs from Jerusalem, a focal point for prayer and devotion. This copy belongs to a network of similar Loreto chapels spread across Europe, each following the design principles of its Italian prototype.
