HaDivadlo, Theatre in Brno, Czech Republic

HaDivadlo is a repertoire theatre company based since 2004 in the Alfa pasáž arcade in Brno, where it performs in a studio-style auditorium. It developed from the Hanácké divadlo founded in Prostějov in 1974, and since 1992 has been part of the city's Centrum experimentálního divadla.

Hanácké divadlo was founded in 1974 in Prostějov under Svatopluk Vála and dramaturg Josef Kovalčuk, with four employees and amateur actors from Vála's Studio LŠU. A 1979 theatre law pushed the troupe under Brno's State Theatre in 1980, gaining professional status. It moved to Brno in 1985 and joined the Centrum experimentálního divadla in 1992.

The name HaDivadlo is a contraction of Hanácké divadlo, the Haná Theatre, after the Haná region around Prostějov where the troupe was founded in 1974. The company moved to Brno in 1985 and has occupied the Alfa pasáž since 2004.
