Velký mlýn

Velký mlýn is a historic watermill in Libeň that stands beside the Rokytka River, displaying traditional features of industrial buildings from past centuries. The building now houses a city library branch, study spaces, a café, and a large multipurpose hall for various events.

The mill was first mentioned in 1595 and operated continuously until 2019, supplying processed grain to generations of residents. The shift from active milling to cultural use marked a significant turning point in the site's history.

Today it operates as Zastavení ve Mlýně, a space where locals and visitors gather for concerts, theater shows, and exhibitions that reflect contemporary artistic life. The repurposed rooms honor the site's working heritage while hosting new creative activities.

The location is easy to reach and offers various facilities that can be enjoyed throughout the day and evening. Visitors should check ahead for current events since the program varies with the season and type of activities scheduled.

During winter months, the area around the mill transforms into an ice skating rink, allowing visitors to combine sports with cultural activities. This seasonal addition creates a unique rhythm for the site depending on weather and time of year.
