Palác pánů z Hradce

Palác pánů z Hradce is a Renaissance palace with symmetrical proportions that span multiple floors of the structure. The exterior displays stone elements and decorative details that reflect the classical style of the era.

The building was created in the 1550s through the reconstruction of two Gothic houses and received its current form after 1558 under architect Ulrico Aostalli. This transformation marked the shift from medieval to Renaissance architecture at this location.

The palace takes its name from the lords of Hradec family who made it their home during the Renaissance. Visitors can observe the artistic contributions of different craftsmen visible in the courtyards and on the exterior walls today.

The palace is located in Malá Strana on Zámecké Schody street and currently serves as the Italian Embassy. Since the building functions as an official diplomatic site, visitors should expect limited access to the interior.

Czech art nouveau painter Alfons Mucha lived in this building from 1911 to 1924 and left his artistic mark on the place. This connection with one of Bohemia's greatest artists adds an important chapter to the building's story.
